My first objective, is to hold a better understanding of the intensity within a newsroom workflow, or lack thereof. I am going into this internship with expectation's of a rat race, although I'm not sure that will be the case. I am fortunate enough to be able to experience my work field before I jump in, that way I am more or less jumping in side first rather than head first. To say the least to futher this objective, I am excited to learn the in's and out's of an everday "day" in the newsroom.

As for my second objective, I am obviously looking to improve my on-camera shots. My current reel is less than impressive, and I know I am capable of more. To be able to shadow some of the best reporters in Hampton Roads, all while collecting my own film, is a blessing. I am hoping to have a fuller portfolio by the end of the day.

Thirdly, I would love to make genuine connections with everyone at the station. Although I have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do as a career, being open to exploring all oppourtunities this early on is detrimental to making sure I end up exactly where I should be. Interacting with media, production, sales and so many more departments, I have the oppourtunity to fine tune every aspect of the job.

Lastly, and certainly most important, I want to be a sponge. I want to absorb everything around me no matter how small. Because the truth is, there is no bit of knowledge too small. Picking up every sentence I can is crucial to becoming a functioning part of the office. Showing that I can self serve and produce content is an aspect I am excited to introduce to everyone, and perfect being the ultimate intern.
